Engro waiting a year before decision on next Pakistan LNG terminal

According to Reuters, Engro has announced that a decision on its next LNG import terminal in Pakistan is at least a year away.

The need to clarify domestic gas regulations and new pipeline commitments has been cited as the reason for this time-scale.

During the same announcement the company also stated that its previously reported tensions with the new government, led by Prime Minister Imran Khan, did not play a role in the scheduling of these plans.

When the project is cleared to commence, it will take around 14 to 15 months for it to be constructed and be ready to begin operations. This makes a 2021 start-up date a lot more likely than the previously predicted 2020 date.
