According to the latest Reuters report, Qatari Energy Minister Mohammed al-Sada is expecting Chinese demand for LNG to grow by 20 – 25% in 2018, after a 46% spike in 2017, in spite of heightened tensions with the US.

Al-Sada was interviewed ahead of the Qatar-Germany investment conference in Berlin and stated: “It looks like [China’s LNG demand] growth is going to continue at 20, 25%, maybe more.”

He also added that he hoped the US and China would be able to resolve their differences and avert a trade war; “I think and hope that logic and rationalism will prevail… It is in the interest not only of the two countries, but also the rest of the world.”
