According to Reuters, during the 2018 – 2019 financial year, Egypt exported 172.8 billion ft3 of LNG from its Idku plant across 45 shipments.

Reuters reports that the country became self-sufficient in natural gas late last year, and is looking to establish itself as a regional hub for energy trading by liquefying gas and re-exporting it.

In March, the Egyptian oil minister reportedly said that the country was seeking to export 2 billion ft3/d by the end of 2019.
