Shell has announced that it has opened its fifth LNG filling station for trucks. The station is located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and is located along the A2 motorway, which runs through Belgium, France and the Ruhr area of Germany. It is capable of providing fuel for up to 200 trucks per day.
Vos Logistics and Zandbergen Transport are amongst the station’s first customers. Shell claims that it will continue to construct more LNG filling stations in the Netherlands, and expand its network in Europe.
Lauran Wetemans, Shell’s General Manager Downstream LNG, noted that Shell was continuing to work with policymakers, customers and truck manufacturers, in order to develop the truck market. He added that the new LNG filling station in Eindhoven is an important step in helping to expand Europe’s network of stations.
According to Reuters, Shell has confirmed that it will continue to work alongside both the UK government and European institutions, despite the country’s decision to leave the EU.
Speaking at the LNG 18 conference in Perth, Australia, the CEO of Shell, Ben van Beurden delivered a speech, in which he argued that innovation and investment remain key for the LNG industry’s development.
Shell has announced that it has successfully opened a fourth LNG truck refuelling station in Netherlands, which will serve delivery trucks for the Dutch supermarket, Albert Heijn.
