According to Reuters, PTT – the Thai energy firm – has claimed that it will import 5 million t of LNG in 2017. This is compared to the 3 million t imported in 2016.
Reportedly, the company is holding discussions with a number of potential suppliers, including BP and Shell. Reuters also added that the company is planning to purchase the LNG under long-term contracts.
The CEO of the company, Tevin Vongvanich, reportedly said that the company expects to conclude the details of the agreements in September 2016.
According to Reuters, Thailand’s PTT will increase the capacity of its Map Ta Phut LNG import terminal, whilst also planning to construct a second terminal.
