According to Reuters, Poland’s first LNG terminal is due for completion in May 2016 and is – according to the head of state-owned Polskie LNG, Jan Chadam – scheduled to be working at full capacity by 2018.
At present, only Qatargas has signed a supply contract with the LNG terminal. However, Chadam told Reuters that he is confident of securing more contracts soon. The terminal is being built at the cost of approximately US$642 million.
Chadam said: “This is a big site in a strategic location […] Additionally, it will be used not only to take gas directed to the Polish market, but to the entire central and eastern European region."
