According to Reuters, India has recommenced discussions with Japan and South Korea regarding an LNG purchasing alliance. China may also be involved in the alliance. India’s state-owned GAIL Ltd is reportedly leading the discussions.
The Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, reportedly commented: “For the next two to three decades, gas is going to be a major part of the energy basket for Asian energy consumers.
“We want to bring together the countries and form a network which can together source reasonable, rational and affordable LNG.”
At the 2nd India-Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue, discussions centred on continuing the development of the energy collaboration between the two countries.
