GTT receives order from HHI for LNG carriers

LNG Industry,

GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) has received an order for two large LNG carriers (LNGCs). The two ships will be built by Korean shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The LNGCs are expected to be delivered between 2016 and 2017 and will be built with the innovative Mark III flex membrane technology, which allows an optimised daily boil-off rate of cargo LNG.

These vessels will be owned by Algerian shipping company Hyproc, which has been operating GTT-designed LNG carriers since 1971.

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, commented: "HHI and Hyproc are two long-term partners. We are delighted to see that these companies have chosen, once again, membrane containment solutions for their new buildings".
