The programme of expansion of the Baltic Sea-based Russian ports is nearing completion and further development of the ports will be driven by LNG terminal projects, a Ministry of Transport official said on Wednesday at the opening of a Moscow Forum for dredging companies, IAA PortNews reported.
The event was organised by IAA PortNews and is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport of Russia. Partners of the Forum are IADC and Rosmorport.
Deputy Transport Minister of Russia, Viktor Olersky, told the gathering of dredging industry experts that further development of these ports will be carried out primarily through the creation of terminals for transshipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG), including LNG bunkering.
The last ambitious port project in Russia in the Baltic Sea is the construction of MMPK ‘Bronka’ in St. Petersburg.
