Inpex begins natural gas supply through Toyama Line extension

Inpex Corp. has announced that it has begun supplying natural gas to Nissan Chemical Industries Ltd through the Toyama Line extension of its natural gas trunk pipeline network that travels from Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan to Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan.

The Toyama Line is a natural gas pipeline approximately 103 km in length. It will customers based along the pipeline’s route with natural gas including regasified LNG from Naoetsu LNG Terminal in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

Following a full set of inspections, Inpex commenced partial operations of the Toyama Line to enable the efficient, long-term and stable supply of natural gas to Nissan Chemical Industries Ltd, with other customers expected to follow. Going forward, Inpex will continue to undertake the required preparations to fully operate the Toyama Line.

Inpex and Shell still expected to invest in Indonesian LNG plant

According to Reuters, Inpex Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell are still expected to invest in the construction of an onshore LNG plant in Indonesia, despite Indonesian officials’ decision not to proceed with an FLNG alternative.

Inpex awarded further exploration permits

Inpex now holds 13 exploration permits or retention leases in the vicinity of the Ichthys gas-condensate field, where it is developing the Ichthys LNG project.
