Reuters reports that the Japanese government will offer US$10 billion (£7.5 billion) to support firms bidding to build LNG infrastructure around Asia.
This backing will allow Japanese firms to bid aggressively for contracts to build facilities such as LNG receiving terminals and power plants.
Japan’s Trade Minister Hiroshige Seko will announce the initiative in Tokyo at the annual LNG Producer-Consumer Conference.
This scheme is reportedly part of an effort to build markets in Asia for US LNG.
