US LNG cargoes bound for China after tax waivers announced

Reuters is reporting that LNG tankers carrying US LNG are bound for China after an announcement from Beijing stating that it would be granting tax waivers to some importers.

This is the first time that US LNG shipments will be made to China since March 2019, due to the long-standing trade war between the two countries which saw China raise tariffs on US LNG to 25%.

Now that the new tax waivers have been announced, Reuters shipping sources have identified four LNG tankers that are already enroute to China. Having loaded cargoes last month in the US, the tankers are reportedly expected to arrive in China between late April and early May.
