According to Reuters, German utility RWE has secured access to substantial annual capacity of a LNG import terminal due to be constructed in Germany.
This contract with the future German LNG Terminal highlights RWE’s commitment to LNG as a fuel.
“LNG will play an important role in the North-West European gas market and therefore we are very pleased to take this step forward towards an LNG terminal in Germany,” announced RWE executive Andree Stracke in a recent statement.
A final investment decision (FID) is reportedly being planned for the end of next year and, following a positive outcome, the terminal could be operational by the close of 2022.
