LNG Industry,

Permasense has opened its first international office in Houston, Texas, USA. Tom Champlin has been appointed as President of Americas to head up the operation.

Mr Champlin, who has over 20 years experience in business development, marketing and sales in the downstream oil and gas industry, joins Permasense from Nalco Champion.

Peter Collins, CEO of Permasense said: “The Americas represents an exciting prospect for Permasense to significantly expand its reach as part of our ongoing global growth strategy. As the energy capital of the US, Houston makes perfect sense as our first location outside the UK; we’ve been active in the region for a number of years, but our new office will enable us to provide on-the-ground support in our fastest growing market.

“Tom has an excellent background in client account management, as well as a proven track record in building, developing and managing a customer-focused team. His experience and skills offer a strategic fit for Permasense’s needs, and I’m confident that he will continue to build on our reputation for delivering high quality, reliable equipment.”

Tom Champlin, President of Permasense Americas added: “Crucially, this development will give our customers access to a dedicated team within their time zone, providing them with the confidence that we can respond rapidly to their needs. A key focus for the team will be ensuring that we continue to deliver the high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the purchase, installation and post-installation of our equipment that the industry has come to expect from Permasense.”

Permasense’s non-intrusive corrosion and erosion-monitoring system uses permanently installed sensors that continually measure the wall thickness of fixed equipment and quickly detect metal loss caused by corrosion or erosion.

Permasense systems are deployed on FPSOs, offshore platforms, onshore production fields and LNG plants.
