According to Reuters, the Angola LNG export facility has been shut down to carry out scheduled testing and maintenance work. The plant will remain shut down until mid to late August 2016, at which point it will recommence operations at full capacity.
In early June 2016, Reuters reported that the facility had finally resumed production. This followed an initial shutdown in April 2014 due to design issues. The shutdown allowed the facility operator, Bechtel, to correct items from the incident and to address capacity issues. At the time, Angola LNG reportedly anticipated restart operations to occur in mid-2015.
Since reopening in June, the facility has exported a total of four cargoes of LNG, despite the fact that traders expected between six and nine cargoes to be exported before this latest scheduled shut down.
