According to the latest Reuters report, Norway’s oil safety regulator has identified multiple safety breaches at Equinor’s Hammerfest LNG facility. The company has been notified to review the facility’s security.
The Norwegian regulator’s investigation was carried out after a maintenance shutdown at the plant in March 2019. During the investigation it was discovered that 190 safety valves were missing heating cables and insulation.
The facility restarted production with no restrictions later in March, but a deadline of 31 December has been set by which time Equinor must address the safety issues.
