Yemen LNG has denied reports that suspected Al Qaeda militants killed four Yemeni soldiers in their sleep early on Sunday in an attack on forces guarding its Balhaf LNG plant. the country's only liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal.
However, Yemen LNG has confirmed that it was informed by Police Authorities that there was an incident involving the Army and local tribesmen that took place around 60 km from Balhaf on the road between Mukalla-Aden.
Yemen LNG is to divert 20 cargos a year to Korea for the next three years to take advantage of the higher LNG spot prices as the US market has been depressed due to the impact of the shale gas discoveries there.
The 38 in. gas pipeline that links the block 18 gas field to the Balhaf terminal on the Gulf of Aden was sabotaged in Yemen on October 15th. The explosion occurred at in a desert region 75 km north of the Balhaf terminal.
