From the Balkans all the way up to the Baltic Coast, security of supply through diversity of supply is the key issue. The CEE Gas Conference in Zagreb has been seized upon by government ministers and energy executives from across the region as an opportunity to forge the partnerships and market framework required to build a fully-functioning and interconnected CEE, fed by multiple external supply sources.

The conference has also attracted attention from further afield. US LNG exporters are eyeing the CEE region as a market with huge potential. Import terminals in Poland and Lithuania and the imminent development on Croatia’s Krk Island are very exciting prospects and representation at the conference from the likes of Cheniere, LNG Allies, Delfin and Next Decade reflects the enthusiasm for the region.

US Government Officials see the conference as an excellent opportunity to support its companies.

William Silkworth from the US Department of State said:
“The United States has strongly supported the advancement of European energy security for decades.  We look forward to continuing to partner with the European Union and member states on critical diversification efforts central to ensuring energy security.”
