Senator met Energy Secretary to discuss LNG

LNG Industry,

US Senator John Hoeven met with the US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz to discuss a variety of issues, including LNG export permits, relating to North Dakota, a statement from the Senator’s website revealed.

In the meeting, Hoeven argued for the acceleration of the LNG export permitting process at the Department of Energy (DOE).

There are currently 26 export applications under approval by the DOE.

Senator Hoeven has introduced the North Atlantic Energy Security Act, a development that could remove the red tape surrounding energy production and infrastructure development, reduce flaring and expedite LNG exports to US allies abroad.

The Senator also proposed an amendment that would help expedite the export process by requiring a national interest determination within a specified number of days after completion of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reviews.
