The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a letter order authorising Dominion Energy Cove Point LNG, LP to export the volumes of LNG produced related to commissioning activities for the Cove Point Liquefaction Project in Lusby, Maryland.

It has been made clear by officials that commencement of service has not been authorised at this time.

Dominion filed their request for authorisation in early November and has committed to filing weekly reports on its ongoing commissioning activities until commencement of service authorisation is granted by the FERC.

Production is expected to start during November and commissioning exports are predicted in the region of 250 billion ft3, with a maximum delay of 6 months.

Upon completion, the liquefaction facility will have a 5.25 million tpy LNG production capacity.
