The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has withdrawn its request for more time to review Dominion Resources Inc’s Cove Point LNG plant.
Earlier this month, the EPA had asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a 30-day extension to conduct a review of the LNG project in Maryland, USA.
However, Reuters reports that the EPA has now written a letter to FERC indicating that it will provide its comments to the agency on 16 June (the day the original comment period closes).
FERC is believed to have denied a request by several environmental groups and lawmakers to extend the comment period.
