Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) has decided to issue an LNG export license to Saint John LNG, as well as a license to import natural gas.
In February 2015, Saint John LNG Development Company Ltd, a unit of Repsol, filed an application with the NEB for the licenses, each for a period of 25 years. The export license was for 8.12 billion m3/yr of LNG from the proposed LNG terminal in New Brunswick, Canada.
The import license covers a maximum import quantity of 8.86 billion m3 of natural gas. The natural gas will be imported where the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline crosses the Canada-US border near St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
