Coleman welcomes Kitimat LNG progression
Rich Coleman, the Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Gas Development for British Columbia (B.C.) issued a statement about LNG Canada’s recent selection of CFSW LNG Constructors as the main contractor for its proposed LNG export terminal in Kitimat.
He said: “LNG Canada’s decision to select a main contractor is great news, moving the province closer to a new LNG export facility and the company another step forward toward a final investment decision (FID).
“Developing an LNG industry will result in some of the largest private-sector investments in B.C.’s history, and will produce new economic activity for our communities, creating thousands of jobs for British Columbians.”
The LNG Canada export terminal project is comprised of Shell Canada Energy (an affiliate of Royal Dutch Shell plc) and affiliates of PetroChina, Korea Gas Corp and Mitsubishi Corp.
The proposed LNG export terminal at Kitimat will include a gas liquefaction plant and facilities for the storage and export of LNG, including marine facilities.
