EGAS selects BW FSRU

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has selected BW to provide LNG regasification services utilising a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Ain Sokhna, Egypt.
The BW Singapore FSRU, built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in South Korea, will be delivered in the Ain Sokhna Port by the end of September 2015. It is expected to be ready for operations in October.
The FSRU offers a low environmental footprint, high efficiency, storage capacity in excess of 170 000 m3 and a peak regasification capacity of 750 million ft3/d.
Carsten Mortensen, BW Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the successful FSRU provider by EGAS and we look forward to supporting Egypt in this project of national importance. The project requires a fast track schedule – five months from project inception to first gas – which represents a record short time for implementation, and made possible because of excellent collaboration between EGAS and BW.”
