LNG Industry,
According to Reuters, CNOOC – the largest Chinese LNG importer – has commenced construction of two 160 000 m3 storage tanks at a receiving terminal in Fujian province. Reuters claims that the official Xinhua new agency first reported this news on Tuesday.
The tanks are being built as part of a plan to help increase the facility’s receiving capacity to 6.3 million tpy.
Reuters claims that it is not known when the tanks will be completed, but that their construction is part of a US$3.7 billion Fujian government plan for the province to provide gas to Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzou. In addition to this, gas will also be supplied to three power plants.
