Repsol confirms cancellation of LNG shipments to Argentina
Repsol has confirmed the cancellation of ten LNG shipments to Argentina due to a breach of contract by Enarsa. The deal was only agreed last year and contracted Repsol to deliver ten cargos of 138,000 m3 of LNG through 2012.
"We can confirm that Repsol has cancelled 2012's shipments to Enarsa because of repeated failures by Enarsa to comply with the terms of the supply agreement," Repsol spokesman Kristian Rix said Monday.
The first shipment was due to arrive in May when Argentina’s winter sets in and natural gas demand rises, Repsol had initially despatched the first cargo on April 25 but rerouted it two days later. Repsol has also announced it will be taking legal action against Argentina’s government over the appropriation of it’s 51% stake in YPF.
