Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (LNG Ltd) has announced that its indirect, wholly owned subsidiary, Bear Paw Pipeline Corp. Inc., has registered an Environmental Assessment (EA) with Nova Scotia Environment. Bear Paw is proposing to build and operate a natural gas pipeline that will stretch for 62.5 km from Goldboro to the proposed Bear Head LNG export facility, which is located in Point Tupper, Richmond County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Bear Head LNG plant would be connected to the North American natural gas pipeline network by the pipeline.

All of the regulatory and permitting costs, amongst other costs, were considered in LNG Ltd’s previously disclosed three-year cash management plan. Pipeline construction expenditures will only commence following the financial close of the Bear Head LNG facility.

The President of Bear Paw, Maurice Brand, said: “We are committed to completing the Bear Paw pipeline project in a manner that protects the natural and cultural environment.

“We are putting all the elements in place, with Bear Paw pipeline being one of them, to develop a successful LNG export facility on Cape Breton Island.

“Bear Paw continues to be a positive contributor to the local economy. Bear Paw’s investment in pipeline infrastructure will benefit the community, region, and province by creating new jobs and provide economic opportunity through the use of local goods and services. The submission of our EA is another step in achieving that goal.

“We thank the landowners, Mi’kmaq, municipalities, and other stakeholders in the community for their continued support in advancing our project.”

Until 29 April 2016, the public are able to submit comments on the EA.
