Bechtel transfers operational control of QCLNG to QGC

Bechtel has announced that it has transferred operational control of the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) facility in Australia to QGC. The plant is now producing at its full capacity. This accompanies the recent announcement that the QCLNG Train 2 has commenced commercial operations.
Alasdair Cathcart, the General Manager of Bechtel’s LNG business, said: “More than seven years of planning, construction and commissioning work have led us to this moment. We stand proud as we hand over a world-class plant that will serve our customer well for decades to come.
“QCLNG's success is a tribute to everyone working collaboratively on the project – Bechtel and QGC teams, our supply chain, and the Gladstone community. We put our expertise and experience into bringing this plant to life and finding innovative solutions to challenges of megaproject construction. I would like to thank the entire team for their hard work and commitment in making this extraordinary achievement possible.”
The QCLNG facility is one of three LNG plants built in Australia by Bechtel. The others are Santos GLNG, which produced its first cargo in October 2015, and Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), which expects to export its first cargo by late 2015.
