The Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT) has elected Dr Graeme Bethune as its new Chairman, following the retirement of Ian Little, CEO of the Petrosys Group and formerly Envestra Ltd.

Mr Little was appointed to the AGIT Board in 2006 and was made Chairman in 2010. During his time as Chairman, Mr Little was successful in helping organise one of the world’s major gas conferences, LNG 18, held in Perth in April 2016.

The appointment of Dr Bethune, Chief Executive of EnergyQuest consultancy, was confirmed at the Trust’s latest Board meeting. Dr Bethune was appointed to the Board of AGIT in October 2008.

Dr Bethune said: “The LNG 18 Conference is one of a series held only every three years. The recent conference has been widely heralded as setting new standards in its programme and management for a worldwide gathering of this kind and scope, attracting to Perth the most influential leaders of the LNG industry from the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East […] The Australian gas industry is indebted to Mr Little for his efforts in delivering that outcome.”AGIT was established in 1999 to pursue educational and research activities in connection with the Australian gas industry. The Trust is the Australian Charter member of the International Gas Union and represents the Australian gas industry internationally.

Over the past 10 years, AGIT has provided almost AUS$2 million to a wide range of industry participants.
