Final EIS for Aguirre Offshore GasPort project

Excelerate Energy, in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), has received the final environmental impact statement (EIS) from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for its Aguirre Offshore GasPort project, located offshore Puerto Rico.

The EIS assesses the environmental impacts of the LNG terminal proposed by Excelerate, and determines if the project is suitable for construction and operation. FERC concluded that the project would result in limited adverse environmental impacts. The statement moreover confirms the benefits of the project of improving air quality in the region and reducing barge traffic in Jobos Bay.

The EIS follows 3 years of extensive analysis through the environmental review process. Over the next few months, Excelerate will continue to work with the FERC and cooperating agencies to obtain the required certificates and permits. The facility is expected to be in service in 2016.
