GE Oil & Gas has been awarded a contract to supply two gas turbine driven turbocompressor trains to the Abu Dhabi Liquefaction Company (ADGAS).
The equipment will be used for feed gas service to compress natural gas from the ADGAS Das Island LNG complex through a 200 km subsea pipeline to Ruwais and a 100 km onshore pipeline to the onshore Habshan plant, where the gas will be processed.
The new turbocompressor trains will be driven by GE Frame 5 gas turbines, with each compression train including a low pressure and high pressure casing. Each train will also include a waste heat recovery unit for steam production.
The equipment is due to be shipped to Das Island in August 2008 following string testing in Italy. Installation, commissioning and startup of the new trains will take another year, with commercial operation due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2009.
