Algeria
SPRING 2008:Gaz de France has reached an agreement with Sonatrach to extend its supply contracts for LNG to 2019. Under current market conditions, these contracts represent a total annual amount of approximately Û 2.5 billion. read more...

AUTUMN 2007:Sonatrach Skikda has awarded KBR a US$ 2.8 billion contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for its LNG project in Skikda, Algeria. KBR will also carry out pre-commissioning and commissioning of the contract. The project was scheduled to begin in July, and was executed in Houston prior to moving to the Skikda site.

AUTUMN 2007: Technip has been awarded a front end engineering design (FEED) contract from Sonatrach for an ethane extraction project in Arzew, Algeria. The contract comprises two units to extract ethane from LNG produced by the GL1Z and GL2Z trains at the site. The contract will be executed at Technip's operations and engineering centre in Paris.

Australia
SPRING 2008: Chevron Australia has announced plans to expand its Gorgon gas development project, Barrow Island, from two 5 million tpy trains to three 5 million tpy trains. As part of the project Chevron will reconfirm supply contracts and expand the project team. Chevron received approval for the original two trains at the end of last year. They are now waiting for final environmental approval for the third. A Chevron spokesperson said, 'the third train will be built within the approved 300 hectare development site.'

SUMMER 2007: Lloyd's Register Asia has been awarded a three year contract by Woodside Energy Ltd for the provision of validation and classification services in Australia. The contract includes two one year option periods which may result in Lloyd's Register working on the next generation of Woodside operated facilities, including the forthcoming NR2 and Pluto projects. Lloyd's Register already provides classification and validation services for Woodside's floating production, storage and offloading vessels, gas assets and other projects.

Belgium
SPRING 2008: Suez LNG Trading SA, a subsidiary of the Belgium based Suez Energy International and ConocoPhillips have signed a long term agreement for access to the Zeebrugge LNG termianl Belgium. This agreement will allow ConocoPhillips long term access to the Northwest European natural gas market. ConocoPhillips has also agreed to provide Suez with market access through another separate contract. This contract will begin in 2010 and is linked to the Freeport LNG terminal in Texas.

Brazil
SUMMER 2007: Petrobras has signed a charter-ing agreement with Golar LNG Ltd for two floating regasification and storage vessels for the LNG terminals in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, and PacŽm, Cear‡. The first vessel, due to go online in the first half of 2008, will have the capacity to regasify up to 14 million m3/d, whilst the second will have a capacity of 7 million m3/d. Both units will be chartered for US$ 90 million/yr, including operation expenses.

Canada
SUMMER 2007: Environmental approval has been granted to Rotterdam based 4Gas for its MapleLNG project in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Approval was granted for the construction and operation of the LNG importation and regasification facility to be located in Goldboro, adjacent to the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline. This location will allow the MapleLNG project to serve the Canadian and northeastern US natural gas markets when production is started in 2010, subject to construction permit approval.

Chile
SUMMER 2007: BG Group PLC has signed a 21 year LNG supply agreement with Chile. BG will supply 1.7 million tpy of LNG to Chile through its 2.5 million tpy Quintero Bay terminal, which is due to start operations in the second quarter of 2009. The terminal, 110 km northwest of Santiago, will have the capacity to supply about 40% of Chile's gas needs.

China
AUTUMN 2007: Shell Eastern LNG (Shell) and Petrochina International Company Ltd (Petrochina) have concluded a binding Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the long term supply of LNG, with the primary source being the Gorgon project in Western Australia. read more...

AUTUMN 2007: Chemtex International has selected Dresser-Rand Company to provide compression equipment for two LNG plants in the Erdro Basin in China. The company will provide two DATUM(r) centrifugal refrigerant compressors with 16000 horsepower motor gear drives. Chemtex will be the plant contractor for the projects. Black & Veatch is LNG process designer.

South East Asia
AUTUMN 2007: Chart Energy and Chemicals has been awarded orders in excess of US$ 100 million from Energy World Corporation Ltd to supply cold boxes, brazed aluminium heat exchangers, air cooled heat exchangers and ancillary equipment for four 500 000 tpy LNG liquefaction trains to be installed in Southeast Asia, to meet growing demand for LNG in this area.

UK
SPRING 2008: ABB has won a contract to upgrade the automation system for one of the UK's largest gas terminals to ABB's 800xA control system. The St. Fergus Gas Terminal, 60 km north of Aberdeen, Scotland, receives and processes gas from over 20 North Sea fields, accounting for 15% of the UK's daily gas requirements. It is responsible for transporting offshore gas to shore; receving the gas onshore; processing the gas to National Grid specification; delivering the gas to shippers; and ensuring a balance between supply and demand. Gas transported through the terminal consists mainly of methane, together with heavier natural gas liquids.

AUTUMN 2007: Bestobell LNG has won its first orders to supply and install the main cargo-handling cryogenic globe and check valves to four LNG cargo carriers for the Qatargas IV project. The new orders will be fulfilled alongside existing orders to supply the ships with miniature needle globe valves and Bestobell's unique patented Float Level Isolation Valve (FLIV).

USA
SPRING 2008: Aker Kvaerner ASA has announced that it has been awarded a contract to build a LNG regasification terminal in the US. This project will be undertaken by Aker Kvaerner and their joint venture company IHI Inc. Gulf LNG Energy LLC awarded the US$ 680 million project to the companies. The contract covers engineering, procurement and construction of the LNG import and regasification terminal. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011.

AUTUMN 2007: Siemens Water Technologies has been contracted to supply 14 electrocatalytic chloropac sodium hypochlorite generating systems to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), a leading shipbuilder. The systems will then be installed on separate LNG carriers for three petrochemical companies by SHI. read more...

SUMMER 2007: Cryostar has received a contract worth over US$ 50 million from Samsung Heavy Industries. As part of this order, Cryostar will supply onboard boil-off gas reliquefaction plants (Ecorel) for five LNG Q-Max carriers to be built by 2008. These membrane carriers will have a cargo capacity of 265 000 m3 and will trade between Qatar and the USA.
